I just see no reason for any of this. Of course, I'm not an owner or a player in that league but it's pretty obvious that this might be the dumbest sports work stoppage in history. Hockey is not baseball and it sure as hell isn't football, they will have a really hard time recovering from this.
I know I keep saying this, and maybe I'll be made to look like a fool, though I doubt it, but I think the reason these guys keep dicking around is because they know we'll all be back. Yeah, maybe it'll start slow, but look at how fans responded last time...plus a TV deal. It recovered just fine. The sport and the league won't be ruined, and I think they know that. No, hockey isn't baseball or football, and has a much smaller fan base, but an extremely loyal fan base. I know a lot of you say you're done with the NHL, and some might be, but most of us will be back. Take the NBA for example. The NBA is much more noticeable so to say than the NHL. The NBA is talked about more, the players are on TV more and more recognizeable than NHL stars, but yet the NHL's attendance is higher than the NBA, and the league's revenue was about the same with the NHL bringing in slightly more. We're small, but loyal. Cancel the season or not, bring October 2013 and MSG, TD Garden, Wells Fargo Center will all be packed. I think as good as it is, it is also bad because it doesn't give the players or the owners the urgency to get a deal done ASAP.
