But I will tell you as a Probert fan I was furious ..I wanted him to shut the old bastid up . Same with the Carlson incident ...sooo close and yet sooo far. Whatever you call it , it gets the blood pressure up .
On another quick note...I had taped HL of the DET-TOR gm 7 88 and was surprised to see a fairly dirty high stick /hit by JK on Clark near the Tor bench..Clark didn't even look at JK. That was the series where JK shadowed Clark ... Clark was very quiet in that series. Cousins /friends or not.
Probert had such a great series in that one ( beat Gordie Howe's record for points in a playoff) Probie was everywhere , playing great , hammering anything in blue...ahhh the good old days. |
The 7 game series was in '87, Clark missed the entire '88 series due to injury. Going strictly on stats, Clark finished the 7 game series with 4 goals, 2 assists, and 19 penalty minutes. 17 of his 19 penalty minutes came against his old buddy
Lee Norwood.
The story around Toronto at the time was Clark broke a bone in his hand in the fight vs
John Kordic, which occured with 2 weeks left in the regular season. Clark's father gave him a bit of heat right before game 6, stating at playoff time the team comes ahead of his friendship with Kocur. The general consensus was Clark seemed a bit subdued during the series, but looking at the numbers, it's not as if the guy was a complete no show.
I noticed in game 6 that Kocur and Kotsopoulos went off for 5 each. Battleship do you remember that fight, I have absolutely no recall of that one. I remember Kocur vs Gill, I remember Probert vs Iafrate, and Gallant vs Vaive. If you do remember that one, can you give some details.
