I just wanted to start a thread where we could all post video of our favorite un-code-like moments. All those classic sucker punches after the linesmen got in or those great beatings handed out to men already down and hurt. You know a little something that makes all those "new" NHL fans cringe. Any instance where the vaunted code was tossed aside and raw animal instincts kicked in. Everything is fair game, too. Headbutts, late punches, kneeing, hairpulling, eye gouging, punching with helmets, muggings, jumpings, sucker shots-everything. my only proviso is that we keep it to fights instead of outright cheapshots (ie Hunter-Turgeon, mcsorley-brash, brown-sandstrom etc).
I'll kick it off with a few goodies.
Here is
Dave Semenko with the mother of all sucker punches after their fight was broken up by the linesmen. Hunter said of this fight-"after this fight, i knew there was no code."
Dave just mercilessly pounds Jim Kyte after knocking him down. To be fair, Kyte started throwing punches from his back first-but he probably knew what was coming anyway.
Wendel Clark just pounds away brutally on
Bob Brooke. Lets be honest, Brooke threw a shot at Clark first and Clark annihilated him while he was down. Those punches were thrown with evil intentions.
You've got to love Ciccone's shot at the end after putting Pushor down here. You have to look at like this: He could have thrown a few more!
Probert headbutts Bob mcGill. It's one thing to throw a headbutt-but this one was as vicious as they get.
Lets see some more transgressions against the vaunted code. All those lovely moments.
