Right on with the coffee, I was about to post the same thing. I tried several different supplements costing various prices, and by far the best bang for your buck in a cup of coffee. I found with certain other energy boosters they'd make my heart race well after my workout was completed, plus they were expensive. I cup of coffee helped me just as much, and there was no crash as I don't use sugar. Whether you're looking to increase your strength while lifting, or to increase your cardio endurace coffee will help with both. If you don't like coffee, try tea.
I always drink about a half cup of coffee before I head out for my morning run. Anymore and I'll feel like I have to pee right away, a half cup jump starts me and I'm good to go.
