If he only did that against McSorley I might say what is this but he did it many times where he stood back in his boxing stance and sized up his opponent!

I agree with you on fotiu's boxing style. very unique. I have a new haven nighthawks dvd somewhere and on it is a very similar instance between fotiu and springfield's Kerry Clark. They are squaring off and squaring off and .... squaring off haha, and then the linesmen jump in and end it. Clark was pissed and was yelling at fotiu over it as they were being led away.
the Ribble fight/non fight is the worst of the bunch. fotiu didn't need any of the shadow boxing routine to beat him. i remember that THN article ferguson wrote about the top-10 for that year and he called fotiu out for it. funny stuff coming from a legendary policeman.
