People always want to point the finger at Brodeur as the cause for the lack of recent success. Looking at just the numbers will make it seem like that is the case but I assure you he hasn't been the sole problem. All those weaknesses in addition to Brodeur not playing fantastic has led to the bad numbers and lack of success.
This year they don't seem to have any glaring weaknesses (besides some 3rd period let downs) and Brodeur has been playing excellent in the 2nd half. Bottom line is i expect Brodeur and the Devils to be a tough team to beat.

The life of a goalie, too much credit when you win and too much blame when you lose. I agree with that but I do remember him giving up some soft goals. It seemed like one a game for a few series. I don't know where his games played number for this year is at compared to those years but it seemed he got more rest early in the year than in years past so maybe he is fresher. That would be big because he has looked like his old self at times this year.
Like you I have just not payed enough attention to Florida to really see how this will play out. I know the Devils have a good team but Florida just kept plugging along all year to keep the division lead. It seems like a trap series where everyone thinks the Devils will win but then Florida comes in and plays a team game to take it.
