BOSTON, MA –
Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has acquired defenseman
Greg Zanon from the
Minnesota Wild in exchange for defenseman
Steven Kampfer.
Now in his sixth full NHL season,
Greg Zanon has skated in 432 NHL games with the
Nashville Predators and
Minnesota Wild and registered 11 goals and 43 assists for 54 points. The 6’0, 205-pound native of Barnaby, BC has also appeared in 11 postseason contests where he compiled four assists. This season, he had 2-4=6 totals in 39 games for Minnesota.
Last year, Zanon ranked second overall in the NHL in blocked shots with 212 in 82 games. His best season statistically came in 2009-10 after he notched 2-13=15 totals in 81 games. He was originally drafted by the
Ottawa Senators in the fifth round (156th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
Steven Kampfer was acquired by the Bruins on March 2, 2010 from the
Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a 2010 fourth round draft pick. In his career, Kampfer has skated in 48 NHL games (all with the Bruins) with 5-5=10 totals. This season, Kampfer appeared in 10 NHL games with the Bruins and had two assists.
