If you've seen him play since RNH went down, you'll know why he can command up to $5M. He would have gotten a much longer deal on the open market. As a two-year deal, there's no real reason to hate this.

I never said they were..
But I know, that is what makes it even more funny. They felt he was worth more (roster players/good prospects) and he isn't. It's that simple. I read today where they wanted Bernier straight up for Hemsky. I almost pissed myself. Then when the Oilers thought Brown was available, they wanted Brown for Hemsky. I don't know if the writers really are writing what the team feels, or they are just stupid, but that's insane. Not only the bloggers, we are talking about Ryan Rishaug, that was overvaluing this guy. I read that they felt they could get Bernier and Brown as long as their part of the deal involved Hemsky. He is a fu(king injury prone rental, that hasn't done sh*t in 2+ years.
That was the crazy sh*t I read involving the Kings. There were many others with other teams, including Hemsky for Suter from Nash.
I guess all the Edmonton writers and the team can overvalue him all they want now, they are stuck with him for 2 years. If you thought it was hard trading him as a rental, just wait if they try to move him with that contract.
