I go to college in a town with a population of about 8,000 people, 300 miles from Long Island. Central NY is mostly Buffalo or Rangers fans but even up here, there are alot of Isles fans. The teams of the late 70's and early 80's made Islander fans out of a lot of non-believers. Fast forward to the early 2000's, Eric Cairns
was skating off the ice to a sold out crowd going insane after he dropped Corson in the playoffs. Keyword: Playoffs, something the Islanders havent sniffed in almost 5 years.
The fans are there but this team is terrible, why even waste money on going?
Rest of my post trash? It's all true. The Isles will always be the baby brother (or sister) of the Rangers. Also, I would bet on the fan base being larger for the Rangers on LI, based on what I have seen. Sorry man.
