Calgary Flames Executive Vice-President and General Manager
Darryl Sutter announced today the signing of defenseman
Ian White to a one year contract.
White, a native of Steinbach, Manitoba, was acquired by the
Calgary Flames on January 31, 2010 in a trade with the
Toronto Maple Leafs.
White finished the 2009-10 season with 13 goals which tied him for 8th amongst NHL defensemen.
He averaged 22:47 minutes per game last season and finished with 38 points placing him 28th in the NHL for blue-liners.
White had filed for arbitration and the hearing was set for 7 am MT Friday. However, the two sides reached a deal just minutes before the hearing.
