Interesting that Laraque would say that as I remember him also saying that as a rookie he was very anxious to fight Twist, who around this time (98-99 season) was the most feared, if not the best, heavy in the league.
I remember
Peter Worrell also saying that the only time he´s ever been nervous during a hockey game was when he lined up next to Twist during a face-off.
Here´s a longer clip with a replay of the Laraque-Twist bout and at the 1.03 mark of the clip you can see that Twist really catches Georges with a shot that snaps his head back.
I also find it interesting to see that Laraque turns away his head and avoids looking at Twist when the fight is over as if saying that he´s had enough:
I also agree however that BGL would´ve probably fared better against Twist a few years later.
When it comes to fighting BGL is the
Barry Beck of this era, a player who never loses and wins almost all of his of his scraps. But how entertaining was Beck? And how entertaining is Laraque?
