I hear what you're saying, personally I think Crombeen deserved this based on activity alone. None of the other candidates even had double digit fight numbers and only Crombeen and Stewart got significant playing time.
Just like there are certain criteria for the normal rookie of the year award, I think games played and activity have to be taken into account. If one rookie forward only scores 6 goals, even if they're all highlight reel goals, and another rookie scores 20, the rookie with 20 is going to get the
rookie of the year nod.
This was an exceedingly weak year and honestly I think the only reason Fritz got as many votes as he did is because he had a handful of good fights in the 20 games he was here, while MacIntyre and Rechlicz didn't have quite the same impact in just as few games.
