Playfair was without a doubt one of the top guys in the league during his era. He had some impressive wins including solid beatings of O'Reilly, Semenko, McClelland, Peplinski, and Plett. Beat Plett twice in the same game despite Plett getting the jump on Playfair both times. Owned Chris Nilan. He also had some great slugfests with Nystrom, Kluzak, Holmgren and Mann.

Playfair left caution to the wind and took a few to give a few. His style did lead him to leaving himself open quite a bit and susceptible to the big punch. Took a serious ass kicking at the hand of Brian MacLellan, and also was dropped by Jimmy Mann. Stan Smyl also dropped him, but it was a borderline sucker job, so I exclude that one. Bad losses for Playfair include a loss to Brad Park and Steve Rooney.
