Quebec Major Junior Hockey League general managers still don't know what rules will change this season regarding fighting and violence.
A 14-member committee is set to deliver recommendations for changes after an ugly playoff brawl sparked disapproval from the Quebec government.
Jacques Beaulieu, GM and coach of the Saint John Sea Dogs, said the topic was raised in a conference call between league GMs Tuesday.
"The discipline committee will come out with some rules. With the owners and governors meeting (this week in Victoriaville), it will be public Saturday," he said. League spokesman Karl Jahnke confirmed that's the plan, although the recommendations have been delayed since June.
Beaulieu said the only rule change he knows about would deal with players taking penalties after the whistle. The ensuing face-off would be in front of the penalized team's net, regardless of where the penalty was taken. Jahnke said any rule changes would become official only after approved by the governors and owners, who meet from Thursday through Sunday.
