I like the fact they signed him, it makes the blue line with Schultz and Burns signed long term very solid. But I agree was the contract a little large? Schultz is a type of guy that does everything good (not great) and nothing bad and never hardly makes the news for either. Which on our defense says a lot because we have some defense men that tend to stand out alot for mistakes.Who knows with the way salaries are going. And the trend has been to lock up young players that you know are going to be solid contributars, that you know are going to help the club for years to come.

Bottom line a solid move by management to lock a solid solid solid (not flashy) young defense man. Most NHL fans are going to ask who is Nick Schultz, but he is a class act and very solid.
