Pietrangelo does enough to handle ''Haute'' Couture in a non-event.

As for the hit...Thorton saw a gift horse coming his way,
that was borderline legit, and in that split second,
he decided to over-rule the ethics of the situation...and just go for it..

As FrankLexy said, Perron was playing the puck, and therefore,
technically fair game...but Thornton's a character guy
who probably knew that he'd crossed the line
the minute the two made contact.

Still...to those of us who play, or have played the game...
are you telling me that you're sure you'd hold up on the follow through
if you found yourself in a similar situation?

Lucky Couture gets to stick up for his team captain and gets throttled by a bigger foe. Joe Thornton ought to buy him a new car--he's got the dough.

Wrestling match, with the new rules, Thornton should and will be suspended for sure. That was totally blindside to the head of an unsuspecting opponent or however the rules read. I like Joe, but he will be sitting out a few. The sneak attack from the penalty box was totally bush Joe.

The fight was over shadowed by Thorton's hit.
Slight edge to Pietrangelo.

Don't know why Thorton's in the box ?
I feel he should either out of the game for the head shot or it's a legal shoulder hit ! It's one or the other ...the refs sat on the fence on this call.
Looks like double standards to me because it's " Joe ".
Agreeing with Behn...legal check on paper , but ?? crossed the line.

pathetic "please give me a suspension, pleeeeease!" hit by thornton leads to a pathetic fight by logan "please let me fight like stortini, pleeeeease!" couture. win p-i-e-t-r-a-n-g-e-l-o.

PS - A) anyone whose argument entails calling people assholes and to eat dick, I don't take serious, whatsoever. B) if you say that it wasn't a dirty hit etc etc, the game used to be tougher, etc etc, its old time hockey etc etc, I, and most other who find these hits dirty, will agree with you once we are back to old time hockey equipment. Please don't be so ignorant.

That **** should get Thornton suspended, he was headhunting there. As for the fight, it was mostly wrestling and missed punches, but the edge goes to Pietrangelo.

How did that POS Joe "The annual playoff fail" Thornton not get the snot beat out of him for that dangerous hit? He'll sit 10 games I hope.

10-9 for AP.

Good to see these guys go,it was a good tilt considering not a lot of scraps in their history.

Don't skate with your head down and you won't get popped. If you can't take a clean hit, then become a quarterback in the NFL. The NHL is now allowing guys to skate around with their eyes glued to the puck instead of looking up for hits like the one Joe put on Perron. I can never give a win to a guy that wears a shield and doesn't take it off prior to the fight. Win Courture in his NHL fighting debut.

Lots of sweater pulling and barely connected oblique punches. It's hard to really even call it a fight.

Petro was throwing a lot of noogies.......

Very dirty hit from Big Joe. Win Pietrangelo

In the Day, star or not, Thornton would have to pay for that hit. Good job by Coture to step in, good job by Petro to step up...GREAT job by Perron to wake up from that one and get the ultimate revenge by scoring a goal.

Crap fight, but I predict we have not seen the last of this situation. He'll get a few games in the press box and these teams will meet again.
