Being a Bruins fan, I WOULD vote against a Bruin if he lost a fight.

But Thornton dominated Rivet (the ex-Canadien); having watched the game, not sure what lead to this, but predicted Buffalo would have to come out in the 2nd period banging ... which they did.

Win for Thornton, good showing by Rivet.

And you guys ready to bash Chara for not dropping against Gaustad ... remember McQuaid challenged Gaustad near the end of the game ... and Gaistad cried to the officials that "McQuaid dropped his gloves". Chara had a splint on his finger as was looking at a match penalty had he fought Gaustad at the time ... although it would have been nice to see Z take the splint off and pound the crap out of Gaustad!

Pfft, "loses his balance".

Rivet was obviously overclassed here but he's had a surprisingly long career. Solid old school player.

C'mon people, give Rivet props... but not votes. Win, Thornton.

Thornton looked very angry during this fight. Rivet did a decent job throwing. Thornton wins this bout with good control.

I may be a bit biased, as a Sabres fan, but I have no problem giving Thornton the win here. I was just glad to see there was someone on the Sabres team willing to go with a good fighter like him.

Rivet wins if punching shoulderpads and air count! Win Thornton...for landing punches

I'm a sabres homer but giving the fight to thornton. I'm glad that buffalo has a captain now that wont back down and actually has a spine. similar to getzlaf, iginla, thornton etc. not a natural fighter but when the team needs him he's there. that is what hockey is truely about. good tilt

Thornton landed the better blows. Unanimous decision. Thorny needed a win.

Shawn Thornton won this fight. Plain and simple. This is not a popularity contest so why can't people (ie brokenleg/mcb) just be legit with their votes, otherwise this site is pointless. Oh by the way brokenleg/mcb you are a douche.

Good quick scrap. Thornton is clearly more experienced and stronger. Props to Rivet for giving it a go. Win Thornton.

Btw - I have to turn the volume off on any Boston feeds. Jack Edwards is freakin brutal...
