Shelley never seemed to gain good positioning,
as Belak effectively varied his punches.

"Belak is a big strong kid." At 33 I'm sure he'd like that. One of his better fights this season.

Too fading heavyweights, Mrs. Shelley fading faster.

Belak the busier of the two...jersey jab edge to Belak.

belak with the win!!

my least favourite kind of fight. right off the draw, spins, jersey jabs, "they way they fight nowadays" pretty much sums it up. going with a draw, two disappointing fights from two very tough guys.

draw... not enough shots landed to give belak the win...a 5er

Shelley is still a tough guy and will have some good fights in the future, but Belak has definitely replaced him in the pecking order. Out of the top fighters in the league, Shelley is one whom you'll see playing a checking role and getting some good hits in without the ensuing fights (where's Laroque & Brashear, how much ice time is Boogeyman getting?). He's got some skills, but just not a top 10 heavyweight fighter anymore. Losing to Belak this way is not an embarrassment and it seemed to give the Sharks a lift. Win Belak. Game to the Sharks.

Belak controls the fight. Each guy is throwing with limited success for the most part. Belak gets a nice uppercut in though. Edge to Belak in this one.

Slight edge for Wade as he landed a few more. But not much overall landing by either guy.

Not his "first fight back" (Janssen) but it matters not. I think Jody has tired of the whole fighting thing. Draw, maybe an edge to Belak

Draw to much jersey jab. one punch landed by each. classic draw and boring. sharks got a goal 1 min later so seemed fight worked.
