This was an ambush, not a fight. Downie popped Ovie in the mouth after taking a questionable high hit and they both got 2 for roughing. They were chirping at each other out of the penalty box as soon as they hit the ice. Downie was jumped by Ovechkin's boyfriend Bradley after #8 dropped his lid and gloves and then backed away. Real leadership skills. Bradley got a game misconduct for coming all the way from the bench. Ovie didn't even wrinkle his skirt!

You cannot fault anyone in this. Downie did his job by getting Ovechkin off the ice. Ovechken did his job by answering the bell, no matter what that tool from the broadcast says and Bradley did his job by stepping in for the star player. What if Bradley had not done that and Ovechkin had busted his hand? I love a good fight like the next guy and love to see top players like Iginla get into them, but given the chance, Ovechkin needed to be protected and Bradley did it. Also, if you waw the speed with which Bradley skated over I will bet the coach told him to get his ass out there and protect our star.

Ovy wanted to fight..
Good for Bradley to come to the rescue..
Downie is not some punk; he can throw them, could have got ugly for Ovy.

How does anyone say Ovy chickened out on this and oh he needed a babysitter??His helmet was on the ice for MAYBE 3 seconds and Bradley was there.

Win Bradley and great job too to defend his C and superstar.

Good job of Bradley to step in for the best player in the league. Not Ovechkins fault that he didn't get to fight. What a class act by Ovie though, took his gloves and helmet off and let Downie do the same without trying to cheap shot him or anything. I'm sure Bradley will be getting a dinner from Alexander the Great. Ovie may have been a little mad though that he didn't get to fight.

Bradley did not leave the bench! There was a line change. The announcers and certain people posting obviously need to look at the video. Btw... Bradley did win. Close, but he won.

This is bush league. Ovechkin challenged Downie and was ready to go. For anyone to say that Downie was coming after Ovechkin when he got run, they don't know hockey. Hell, I even saw Teemu Selanne drop the gloves. Once. Ovechkin can't play the chippy style he plays and not back it up. If he wants to go, his teammates need to let him. For that reason, the fight has to go to Downie. Bradley comes in from out of nowhere to "defend" a dirty player. This kind of stuff has no business is hockey.

The Tampa Bay announcers are awful. They claim that Ovie went after Downie when clearly it was Downie who hooked Ovechkin after coming out of the box.
Regardless, I would've loved to see Ovie pound the sh*t out of Downie. Thanks a lot Brads.

First of all, Bradley had no business getting in this fight! Ovechkin knew what he was doing and thats why he dropped the gloves. And people only hate on Downie because he's got heart. If you want to rag on someone it's Bradley for getting in other peoples business. I cant even give that guy the win.

Bradley loses because he is the third man in, and made his Captain look like a girl in front of thousands. Ovechkin loses because as a Captain, he needs to stick up for himself (Mike Richards comes to mind.) Ovechkin loses again, because as a player than runs other players and plays dirty, you MUST answer the bell yourself.

Downie wins the fight over Ovechkin, by putting Ovie in the box, and stripping Ovie of his manhood. Downie drew the actual real fight despite being jumped by Ol' Glass Jaw Bradley (remember when Carcillo dropped him hard?) Downie loses his cool, and that's all he lost.
