Shep was running his mouth because he's trying to find his place in the team. The fight was a cheap jump by Fiddler. The refs are the problem in this fight. Jan 16th should be the day that Fiddler gets his check cashed.

that was a pretty cheap fight, sheppard was just holding fiddler back and fiddler just started throwing punches, the yotes didnt want to answer to their cheap hit earlier in the game, so they start a cheap shot fight at the end of the game

Hey Hennessey are you stupid. Jovo would have killed Sheppard. Look what Fiddler did to him. You can't call that a cheap shot. Sheppard had his gloves off. Last time I looked that means you're ready to go. Not Fiddlers fault Sheppard can't fight!

don't bark if you ain't gonna bite! fiddler gave him a beating end of story. don't stick your head into something if you ain't prepared for it to get knocked off.

as for the earlier fight the Wild player tried to fight Scottie Upshall who prolly has 2 fights in his whole career. If they reeally wanted to retaliate the jovo hit they should have went after Jovo, Vandy, or Aucoin they would have been more than willing

Some poor posts here on this one. Sheppard is the FIRST ONE in the scrum to have his gloves off. He is clearly running his mouth at Upshall. Fiddler comes over with gloves still on, pulls Shepard AWAY from the crowd and drops the gloves while Sheppard is looking him square in the face. Fiddler than promptly pounds Sheppard to the ice. This was not a cheap shot or sucker job. Sheppard had three fights last year, so he is not completely inexperienced. He simply did not defend himself properly and Fiddler beat him badly. I also believe that the Lemaire theory of complete non-instigating in any fight may still be implanted in Sheppard.

With that being said, the Wild absolutely need to dress Scott and Boogaard for the next game and they need to throw their weight around. Phoenix does not have a true heavy, yet they acted in this game like they do. Well the Wild have arguably two of the best 10 heavies in the league right now. Tjhis is the type of situation to use that advantage.

"Also, ridiculousness at the end of the game ensued when a scrum occurred. Referees Dan O'Halloran and Steve Kozari allowed Vernon Fiddler to pull Sheppard out of the pile and begin pounding away. Sheppard said he never saw Fiddler and all of a sudden the ref said to "let them go," which is so typical of this league. If true, it may explain why O'Halloran and Kozari let Owen Nolan get away with an obvious third man in."

Wow. Talk about stupid? Not to mention the blatant head shot by Jovondouchebag not being called against Ebbett. Way to go NHL.

Fiddler now has a "Death Wish" Circle SAT JAN 16, 2010 WILD @ COYOTES 6:00 PM -This is when he can fight Scott and Boogard and of course he will get destroyed. Does not seem that this kid Shepard is a fighter.

Yet another glaring example of how horses**t the instigator rule is. The ref's don't call a flagrant hit to the head penalty and because of the worst rule in all of sports, the violator has no fear of paying for his cheap crap. Then, when Fiddyy has an opportunity to think he's a tough guy with a crowd and the ref's to protect him, he gets in some crappy cheap shots - after the game is over!! This is a non-fight.
