Steve MacIntyre dumps the puck in behind the Islanders net and Joel Rechlicz skates in and finishes his check on the Oilers enforcer. They then both quickly drop their gloves and tie up with one another. After a brief grapple Rechlicz throws a few short left hands towards the side of MacIntyre's head landing a couple of these. MacIntyre then quickly grabbed a hold of Rechlicz and both guys switched their grips on one another before swapping one good right hand each. Both guys then grappled about some more and it's here that you can see the strength of MacIntyre as he man handles Rechlicz up against the boards.

Rechlicz then turns himself off the boards and throws another five left hands at MacIntyre but most of these punches were blocked as MacIntyre lifted his right arm up to defend them. While Rechlicz was throwing these punches MacIntyre was able to switch his grip on Rechlicz and MacIntyre locks Rechlicz out at arms length with his right arm. MacIntyre then throws and lands three straight left hand punches on Rechlicz knocking Rechlicz helmet flying off his head. MacIntyre then lands another good left hand before Rechlicz responds with a left hand of his own.

They then tie each other up again in a clinch with Rechlicz throwing two quick short left hands at MacIntyre, landing the second punch. MacIntyre then uses his strength to pull Rechlicz off balance while also throwing a right upper cut and two over hand rights at Rechlicz but only the upper cut looked to of landed. MacIntyre then throws another four right hands at Rechlicz, starting with two over hand rights and then landing a couple of rights to Rechlicz body. Rechlicz then responds throwing a right hand back before switching hands and quickly throwing a left hand as well, but both of these punches look to fall short of the target.

Both guys are now locked out at arms length, both holding each other with their right arms while holding their left arms back ready to throw punches. But instead of throwing MacIntyre switches grip quickly and attempts a few right hooks and Rechlicz responds throwing and landing a couple of straight lefts. MacIntyre then cleverly holds Rechlicz right shoulder forcing it down, this opens Rechlicz positioning up leaving him open to a big right hand that MacIntyre lands. MacIntyre then pulls Rechlicz jersey over his head and the two lino's see this and quickly come in to stop the fight.

Rechlicz done well in this fight starting off good and taking the fight to MacIntyre. But once MacIntyre composed himself and got a good grip on Rechlicz it was MacIntyre that controlled the fight. MacIntyre switched hands regularly catching Rechlicz with a number of good punches but Rechlicz done well and hung in with a top class fighter. In the end MacIntyre's experience and strength won him the fight, but good showing by the younger less experienced fighter.

Narrow win MacIntyre.

Big Mac gets the better of a really tough kid.
I hope he's not too nice of a guy or is shy after breaking a cheek last season. It would be a shame to send him back to the farm. He should be doing alot more pounding I think. We'll see in the coming weeks I guess.

Rechlicz held his own, gaining some experience against a rusty Steve McIntyre. I am sure he will be telling his grandchildren about the night he was hit by a MAC truck and survived.

Rechilcz started well but couldn't compete with the bombs that Mactintyre landed as was proof by the lenght of time that went by before Rechilcy was able to take another shift, he was clearly the more injured of the two from the fight
