Highlight of the brawl, (other than McPhee, of course)...
...was the nervous look on Billy Smith's face
as he realizes that he may have to join in on a bench clearing brawl...
and, inevitably, risk getting his cheesy toupee ripped off...again.

NO the highlight was Richmond. After challenging Gillies he hangs on to his leg like a tearful girlfriend asking forgiveness, only to act tough again when two linesmen escort him to the Ranger bench. Cant give a winner to any of the fights, except Hrudey. All the Rangers did was hold on for dear life and pretend they wanted a piece of some Islander. McPhee was the best. " "Should I" " Shouldnt I" In the end. Took the safe route. Beezer took s cheap shot at Duane the Dog Sutter. Then when Hrudey hit him a few times we hear Espo crying that he has no mask on. Precious stuff that helped to fuel the rival. All in all it was pretty uneventful.

Gillies was the winner because he hit Sandstrom. Richmond grabs hold and prays, he did not want the fight but felt that he had to do something. McPhee is a tool, Richmond was holding on and hoping that Gillies doesn't get hid hands free. I loved this fracus. ...and here comes Kelly Hrudey!

I think I still here Richmond screaming please don't hit me from under his turtle shell. Maybe the move to Brooklyn will reignite this great rivalry.

Typical Ranger Puss@#@ couldn't compete on any level with the Islander Dynasty!!!! Billy Smith was one of the tuffest goalies ever to play, so get a grip!!!

Ah, those great Islander-Ranger games. This rivarly was insane in the 80's; great games, great fights (players and fans).....honestly, don't think there was a better rivalary in all sports during the 80's.....mayber 49ers-Giants were a tie. Gillies win via intimiation alone. As for Duane Sutter - one of the all-time characters. When a food fight started amongst the Sutter boys......any doubt who started it?
