A hip check can be dirty if you bend your knees and plant your hip near their knee. Closest guy should challenge and Crosby did, good response by the kid...Gretzky never would have done that.

Crosby gets points in my book for willing to drop the mitts. Alex O listen up-the teams who "usually" win consistintly fight to the top as well as score and skate hard. Even Detriot knows this. Crosby did lose this fight but good job in playing a good game of it. Win to Ballard.

Hey all you homers and Sid lovers, wise up. this isn't a sight dedicated to the *** that stands up for his teammate, it's for fights. Since when does a guy ever win a fight because he showed up. He threw one friekin punch. Hardly declared a winner in the annals (or for you idiots - anals) of hockey fights. If you recieve more blows than you attempt to throw, that means your sorry ass lost. Great hip-check by Ballard, then he clears the puck, then he see's he's going to have to answer, then he goes to take helmet/visor off and see's that Sidney isn't going to, then beats on Sidney a bit! I think the NHL is getting boring with all these "retribution" fights for clean hits. Most of these fights are lame. What happened to the old school code of taking a number and getting even later?

Absolute cowardice. He goes after a guy who lands a clean hit on someone, throws maybe 2 punches while wearing a visor then goes for the bail out taken down when the other guy starts landing. **** like this makes the nhl look like a league of conniving punks.
