Rechlicz can retire now. He was up for a few games for a very bad team. He can now tell the kids how he fought BGL. "Gee. What was that like, Dad?" say the kids. "He was larger than life...but so nice to fight me. I was absolutely terrified but I wanted to fight him so I could say I fought the very best. How did the fight go? Well it took me about 30 seconds to get the courage to touch him. Then he started pounding at my head as he nicely whispered in my ear..'Go down, kid...I don't want to kill you' and then he pulled me to the ice himself. He could have pounded me unconscious but he is such a nice guy he helped me so I didn't look bad or get hurt."...the truth is folks is that BGL could definately hurt guys like Rechlicz any night but BGL doesn't want to...he isn't interested in ending careers...and he is that good of a fighter that he beats these guys and he isn't even trying.

A whole lot of build up for nothing, that Metropolit fight was leagues better than this one. Seemed like both fighters just fought because they 'had to', Rechlicz to prove himself and Laraque to prove he should still get any minutes on the ice whatsoever. Gave the slightest slightest edge to Laraque and a 3 for wasted potential. I love Laraque and his candid answers to interviewers, but he seems to be nearing the end.

p.s. i know i know i know i shouldn't mention mcDB and I apologize for doing so, but at least she is mixing it up now. New heavyweight champion! Thats brilliant! But i agree with previous posters before, I think we should all pledge to not mention her or her ilk again and maybe they'll go away.

crap fight ... I would rather see fights develop out of the heat of the action, after a whistle blows to stop action, than at the start after dropping the puck.

Look for this video to be shown at the next GM meeting as fodder to ban fighting. And honestly, looking at this I might have to vote in favor of the ban. It's embarrassing.

Rechlicz with a miss, Laraque punches him in the back of the head, and it's over. They both should have received double delay of game penalties.

Nothing landed. Draw.

Laraque's fights are always garbage and usually last 5 secs. He just tries to muscle guys around instead of standing and throwing punches.

All Georges all the time. Good on Rechlicz for dropping. Another unspectacular fight from the champ. I think his punches must hurt a lot...

The only reason laraque "won" was because he was willing to wait it out and not be the first in, even if that meant the refs would break it up and make the two look like asses. Rechlicz knew how foolish this looked so he took one for the league....
On a side note, why are they playing "Shipping up to Boston" at an Islander's game?

ANYBODY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT? ANYBODY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH TWO GUYS DROPPING THE GLOVES OFF THE DRAW? Im tired of hearing about the staged fights. Two guys wanna go ,Let them go. NHL takes fighting out of hockey, I'll never watch another hockey game again. Good win for Laraque. Good heart by the young kid.

I'd turtle too if I were fighting Big George. But of course, I'm not a professional hockey player who touts himself as "the Wrecker."
