Tommy Maxwell vs Aaron Downey

Downey wins. I hope the Wings are smart enough to call Aaron up. They don't need Marion Hossa fighting, even though he will. Aaron is a decent player who doesn't make mistakes with the puck. He can take a regular shift and keep the flies off the Europeans.

There is no doubt that aaron can fight, hes a veteran...I would love to have him up with the wings, I miss proby, kocur, and even mcarty...but aaron cannot skate...I play beer league and can skate circles around him...so babcock has no choice to play the ***** europeans. But when teams figure out how to play the wings, like 1 cheapsot to lindstrom, babcock will be sorry aarons not playing.

Downey hit Maxwell once hard, Maxwell hit the ice. Downey skates to penalty box. Maxwell goes to locker room, I assume to get his face worked on. I was there and pretty close to the action, the video really doesn't show how hard Maxwell got hit. My Griffins season tickets are a lot more fun with Downey there.

Downey actually has said that playing a regular shift in GR has been good for his game because he gets into the flow, and as a regular at their games I can tell you that he looks to play first and fight second. I think he knows he'll need to develop his game, and last night he had two assists. He has 4 goals on the year as well. To boot, he's great with the kids! Point: He may be working his way back up, and has a bit more game than many fighters (but then how many do have any skill other than pugilism?)

for a second I got excited that Detroit had brought Downey back up.....then reality set in.....sigh....too bad, Aaron is a great fighter
