I think Ohlund did everything he could do to put a clean hit on Cole. Cole was playing the puck and turned his back to Ohlund, but Ohlund hit him shoulder to shoulder. They were close to the boards, but Ohlund didn't put Cole head first into the boards.

Ohlund didn't skate away from the fight either. The clip doesn't show how the fight got going, but Ohlund was throwing from the get go. Clean hit aside, it looked like Ohlund was willing to go. The announcers said there was history between Ohlund and Cole. I don't know the details of what went on between Ohlund and Cole other than the fight they had earlier in the year.

Cole had a serious neck injury a few years ago but that was due to a hit by Brooks Orpik. Sometimes when guys have been hurt like that, it takes a lot less to get a fight going even though Ohlund had nothing to do with the serious neck injury.

If its wrong for Souray to go after Ohlund in this situation, then somebody from Vancouver has to get together with Souray later.

Normally I wouldn't be so down with that hit resulting in a fight, but with the injuries Cole has had, someone definitely had to jump in on that one. If it were two different teams there wouldn't be so much argument. If Bergeron was nailed like that and Chara stepped in there wouldn't be any complaining. Good on Ohlund to not skate away and to answer the bell, he's a big tough swede, but he took a good shot by Souray there. Definite win to Souray.

Damn, Souray flipped himself over after that brutal shot!

Cole kneed Ohlund a couple of games ago. That was dirty. It was a clean check by Ohlund.
Good for Ohlund to answer Souray's request.

Souray hit the visor. Clean hit before that by Ohlund. Than he connects with two punches, but not very hard ones. Draw.

as hockey fight fans, why do we bitch when someone comes to the aid of another player. clean or not, lets get it on!

Looked like a fairly clean hit on Cole (compared to a lot of cheap shot in the league). Props to Ohlund for standing up to Souray who is an underrated baddass. Wish we had gotten Sheldon in Detroit.

What is happening in Hockey is some sort of new disease, this is not flag football. Getting sick of guys fighting when they get hit cleanly or examples like Souray sticking up for his team mate cause he got bumped. You can hit your opponent hard and clean. It's part of the games guys.

The hit was fine by Ohlund, but if anyone had a teammate with a neck injury like Cole I am sure you would still take exception.

Props to Ohlund for going and starting out decent. Let's be serious though, Souray crushed him with the right, as soon as he got loose. If Ohlund could have taken the shot and stayed on his fight, this would have been ugly for him.
