Good job Tyutin, players always rise in my books when they do that. Especially when they're guys like Tyutin. Stupid idiotic play from Backes, I'll enjoy reading about the bum's suspension. I hope its a long one. Too bad someone tougher wasn't on the ice to tune him. Oh yeah, voted it a draw.

both players had their sticks up and Huselius falls quicker then donald brashear and lays around the ice just as long. not that it didn't hurt but come on...get up and don't let the opposing player have the satisfaction.

The "fight" was not much of a fight.
As for the crosscheck...well. Excellent crosscheck.

Mark it down, Feb. 3rd. Hitch won't let that one go. Boll vs. Backes IF he'll even answer the bell.

Didn't see Backes land anything, mostly just pushed him down. Draw

EXACTLY KCROD-it looked like Backes put his stick up to protect himself. the announcers need to stop bitching about it. if it was a columbus player crosschecking it would have been an accident im sure.

he didnt even get suspended so the league obviously agreed

Gutless is the most pleasant word i can think of. Cowardly comes to mind.

Backes with edge

Common folks. It wasnt an intentionally done. Backes turned when he was coming in and did the natural human reaction to block him. They were on a collision course. Not to mention he layed on the ice like a little baby faking it, give this man and academy award. He came back on the ice and played a hard 3 shifts. Its hockey not basketball. I could see if he lunged back and did it but he just put his hands up. If the NHL suspends him over this, it just shows how much more whimpy they are trying to make the NHL. I mean common they complained this year about how there is to much fighting going on.

backes with the win ,such as it was, honestly it dosen't look like an intentional cheap shot, husselius seems to come in low (look at his knees on the replay)

Backes is a cheap son of questionable lineage. Next time it won't be Toots!

Had to vote this a draw. Tyutin never really got a shot in and Backes looked like he was only hitting Tyutin's arm. As for the shot to Huselius, cheap as they come. And Tyutin getting an instigator shows just how stupid the rule is and how stupid refs are for calling it. Backes instigated the fight with the cheap shot. The league needs to get rid of the instigator rule.

Columbus Announcers are pitiful and don't have a f'ing clue what they are talking about. What a bunch of A-holes saying it was gutless!

Backes did get his stick up but it was clearly not a x-check to the face. On the last slow mo, check out the stick of Huselius. It gets broken, up by the grip! Backes' stick hit his stick up by the grip because Huselius has his stick closer to the rafters than on the ice. No wonder Backes raised his stick to protect himself. The broken part of Huselius' own stick caught him in the face and he crumples to the ice faster than a Sean Avery dive. Looking at it all, I guarantee that Huselius would have received 2 for high sticking if Backes didn't try to protect himself like he did. It's clear his stick would have hit Backes. Any suspension is more fail by the NHL.

Huselius was almost on his knees and put his face at Backes' glove level.
Backes put his gloves towards him and he drew a penalty and faked it by laying on the ice like a dead jellyfish.

Has he gotten up yet or did they just lay a parquet floor over him for tonight's concert?

As for the fight, not much of a fight....just went through the motions.

The whole thing kind of took Backes by surprise....having to fight someone because someone else took up for his teammate that faked an injury....but I'd give the edge to him (Backes) anyway.

Not by much....because he's lucky....it's hard to fight when you are not angry.
