Godard wins. Hartnell ain't a fighter. He's a scuzzball that runs goalies, cheap shots, and swings his stick around not caring whose face he hits. Hartnell is a dirty player who even looks like he needs a bar of soap.
Godard threw a few body shots that didn't look very damaging, Hartnell threw one punch that knocked Godard's helmet off but didn't appear to actually hurt/land on Godard, and then they went to the ice and the linesmen jumped in.
**End of Fight. Nothing to See Here, Folks. Draw.**
...Then Godard throws a few more at the back of Hartnell's head, which didn't appear to land, and looks like he's quite angry that Hartnell fell/pulled him over before he could pound him fairly.
However, even if they *had* all landed, I can't say a guy won a fight because of punches thrown after both players were on the ice and linesmen had intervened. Fight's already over at that point.
No clear "winner" except in the sense that Godard sent a message, and maybe Hartnell will watch who he hits and how.
don't wanna here about cote fighting goddard next game. cote should be tired of getting his ass kicked by BGL and goddard the last 2 years. flyer fans ain't getting it, this isn't the 70's flyers just don't intimidate anymore, haven't for years.
Yo BattleAxe.....NO ONE on this site should lecture anyone about who should and shouldn't fight...EVER. You bust the Flyer fans only because you hate the Flyers. Had it been your team you would have felt the same way we did. I like Godard and agree, Hartnell has the tendency to pick his opponents..... LIKE ABOUT 50 OTHER GUYS IN THE LEAGUE. So jump off your high horse.
This is goonery on the part of Godard. If Hartnell doesn't want to go, he shouldn't have to in this case. It isn't part of the flow of the game at this point (i.e. no questionable hit by Hartnell). Godard goes after Hartnell because if he waited 53 seconds longer to pick a fight, he faced a suspension and a fine. Yeah, he beat Hartnell, but Scotty didn't want to go, and Godard clearly should have received an instigator.
An Aside: I understand that some people don't particularly like the flyers, but these forums are getting a little ridiculous with the clear and frequently pointless bias towards flyer players.
stevens did not send out cote cote would fight godard any day hartnell should not have had to fight godard if stevens would have matched the lines hartnell is not even close to being able to fight hw but he should get props for atleast dropping the gloves
Godard with the win. He instigated with a stick to the balls (??), than proceeded to land a few punches and take down a well hated Hartnell. I've been watching hockey fights for over 25 years, punching a guy on his back after the take down is never classy. Hartnell may be hated by many, but that does not justify Godard's actions in this altercation.
