Aside from being the champ, Godard follows the code, and wouldn't have pummelled Hartnell unless he had it coming. Longest glove drop hesitation I've seen in awhile by Hartnell.

Gee Godard--take on an extra penalty and give the Flyers a fourth power play goal in a 6-3 laugher. Next time fight someone in your weight class, like Cote.

Ha haaa! Man people take things too personal. I like the Flyers because I happen to live here, and have been the last couple years. I was also extremely happy when they got rid of that bum Downie, and with the lack of suspensions so far this year. I can see how people hate the Flyers when hacks like him were around, but all in all they're a loveable team with the likes of Richards, Carter, Gagne, Upshall (Kamloops Blazers!) and Biron. I personally love how Hartnell plays, but I've never seen him take lots of cheap shots either. I can only assume he did something though to get Godard so pissed off, and to throw punches like that when they're down. I still like the guy, but that was kind of lame. Nonetheless, Godard gets the easy win. Hopefully a Cote-Godard rematch will be in the works.

Godard showed how big of a punk he really is. punching hartnell repeatedley while he was on his back with a linesman on top. i cant give him the W for that. Draw.

The funniest part of this fight is it looks like Hartnell was stunned he had to fight. He is a cheapshot- goalie ramming typical Flyer. To the Flyer fan that wants to know how many hat tricks Godard has- well how many rings does Hartnell have???? It is always great to see a Flyer cry like a baby!

Hartnell should have just laughed and skated away from this the way Barnaby used to do occasionally. He could have drawn some much better penalty time from Godard that way. Anyway the fight goes as one would expect in one between a heavyweight and a bantamweight. Win Godard in not much of a fight.

Godard teaches that typical Philthadelphia Cryer scumbag a lesson. Ten bucks says Heartless Hartnell peed and crapped his pants. To the moron who goes by the name phantoms7171. Look up Cotes fights this year. OH yeah he fought Godard and he lost. Godard like Cote doesn't care who he fights. This was purely a message sent to Heartless Hartnell, normally Godard will fight the heavies but Hartnells actions warrant Godard to use the enforcer tactic. Most of you Philthadelphia pukes amaze me still. You have no sense of what real hockey is. Sidney Crosby like Gretzky, like Lemieux and so on are the stars of the game, they don't nor should they fight. Just because of your goon history that might I add hasn't worked since the mid 70's, that is all your town knows, and that doesn't mean that is real hockey. Grow up Philth fans, 1975 was 33 years ago soon to be 34.

Uh...when was godards last hat trick? hartnell isnt really a fighter... he gets in some fights because of the way he plays if this was any other player people would be like good for hartnell for dropping the gloves against one of the best fighters in the league...Hartnell just scored a hat trick the game before and scored in the Pens game as well hes not out there to fight guys like godard.

These teams play again...

6' 2" 210lbs Hartnell vs. 6'4" 214lbs Godard. Not much difference.

Pretty obvious Hartnell didn't really want to go here. Not a very good fight. I'm a pretty big Pens/Godard fan, but I don't see the hate for Phili in this case. They don't have a heavyweight , so Hartnell had to stick up for himself. Cote didn't dress. Cote is as close to a heavy as they have. And you have to have a ton of respect for how Cote will drop his gloves with anyone.

For everyone who says Godard is taking cheap shots, go to about 0:22 and watch Hartnell start trying to knee Godard below the belt

Godard doesn't usually behave like that, does he? Not that I can recall, at any rate.

hartnell wanted nothing doing here and i don't blame him. Goddard obviously had a bone to pick here cause this isn't something i've seen a lot of but he gets a w and philly's got nobody to respond. cote wouldn't stand a chance either.
