Guys run around with flying elbows, hurt a start player (whom people pay to see) and there's no retribution. The gash was caused by an elbow pad since that is what Pettinger led with.

Solid draw. I was at the game and the camera work here is rather poor. It doesn't show some punches that were throw by both guys. High hit on Toews, good team response. Solid draw.

Is it just me, or were the extra penalties called complete garbage? Maybe I just didn't see much of a high stick there. Anyway, the instigator penalty is such joke

dirty hit, wish it woulda been someone tougher to take care of him though.

All I can say is Pettinger is damn lucky that Barker was the nearest guy to him and not Ben Eager, that's the only reason he's still alive right now.

Big hit for Pettinger.....lucky he had a fair matchup and didn;t get his butt kicked for that fairly cheap shot..... and I am a huge Vancouver fan. He will likely get some down the road if they play Chicago again.

Pettinger is garbage. And GET RID OF THE DAMN INSTIGATOR RULE ALREADY!!!! How does Barker get a misconduct for the fight and not Pettinger for the hit on Toews? I still called this a draw

I dont know but i think that was just a sweet hit, Pettinger's the new guy and hes trying to step it up for his struggling new team. Refs are pretty anal when it comes to dirty hits so they wuda called him on it if it was really malicous. I call it just good hockey

Watch the video at 1:02 and you will clearly see that toews own stick hits him in the mouth even when watching the highlights on tv the sportscaster said this. had this been zach stortini that got cut nobody would have cared

Matt Pettinger is a jerk... these players are trying to take out the young kids toews and kane and the hawks have to bring Koci up to protect these kids. Sorry, having Barker take on pettinger was great. but he should not have to do that. Now When Burish or eager goes after a top star from another team,the refs will call everything. Pettinger is a coward and a sissy and Vancouver is a sorry NHL team. He should be suspended for the rest of the season for a bogus hit like that. Bring Koci up and regulate.

You are right, it looks like it was his own stick that did the damage, but that does not take away the fact that Pettingers stick was up when he made the hit. It should have been a 2 minute penalty for high sticking, but not a major.

looked like a decent hit to me, although his stick was up. Hard to tell what exactly caused the gash. The high-sticking penalty was probably warranted, but not the instigator. Fight-wise, Pettinger's the only one who threw. He gets the nod
