This was a good fight mainly because it was downey...second of all he was beating the crap outta him after laperriere took out lidstrom

Downey by a mile. This all started because of a dirty hit by Laperriere on Nik Lidstrom who left the game. Downey beat Lapuke down like the dog he is. Later in the game when Downey went after him again he was jumped from behind by Cody McLeod. I thought when the Avs got rid of Claude LePew, Forsberg and Foote, they got got rid of all the backhitters. Guess they got a whole new crop.

Lapp needs to stop fighting all together, he has become the league punching bag.

WIN DOWNEY...OWNED
Lappy has really been getting handled this year, which is disappointing after such a strong showing last year. I'd say he's gotta be up for most disappointing fighter of the year, he's my leading candidate anyway.

Downey with another win, I love lappy he has as much hart as anyone, but Downey slapped him in this one. Nice to see the Wings and Avs goin at it again.

good thing Downey isn't bigger - he is one tough sob

I was at the game. What the video does not show is that Downey dropped his gloves about 15' behind Lappy, approached him from behind, and then basically jumped him. It was like the Bertuzzi-Moore incident, except Downey chose to sucker punch him versus tackling him. Granted he needed to respond to the Lidstrom check, but you still have to square up to the guy, no? And the punches after he fell were BS too. I wish the teams played again this season so that we could see an honest square off, like it's supposed to be done.

You can't touch Lidstrom. Is that clear now ?

I'd almost give Lappy the win just for the beautiful hit that sparked this.

Lappy should learn how to fight... even shane doan kicked hiss ass...

The announcers and apparently the idiots here that say Lappy's hit was clean did not see the elbow to the jaw, how the hell do you think Lidstrom was knocked silly, because his knee was twisted ? Ridiculous, I wanted to go through the tv and pummel them when they said it was clean. This being said, I love the fact that the Avs tried to rough up the Wings, every team should do it to them, because Laperriere is the only guy in the league that the Wings can beat up.

What? Laperriere cheap shots Downey? Tell me how. Tell me how.

Downey came after Laperriere for his CLEAN hit on Lidstrom. And then Downey wins the fight, obviously, and makes himself look like an arrogant prick when he continues to throw punches when Lappy goes down and turtles.

The Wings play dirty, whether it's taking cheap shots at someone during a fight, taking a dive, running interference, or having Holmstrom get both of his feet in the crease and force goalies to look at his big ass.

You've lost all respect you had for Laperriere? I've lost all my respect for the entire Red Wings organization and you.

heres the penalty breakdown. Downey 5 mins for fighting. and Laperierre gets a hug from his mommy for receiving a beatdown.

Downey with the win here but he is an idiot if he thinks Laperriere's hit on Lidstrom was dirty. It was a perfectly clean check. Another instance of someone taking exception to a good, clean hit by responding with fists. It's getting out of hand. Sticking up for your teammates is one thing, but this is quite another. I'm sorry Lidstrom got hurt, but that happens sometimes, and the hit was not dirty

I was at the game and Downey jumped Lappy from behind. No wonder he beat him. I'd like to see a square off between the two and then we can see who fairs better. Downey with a bitch move in my eyes.
