Saying one team was the cause of this more than the other is absolute crap. stuff was going back and forth throughout the entire game and stoll took offence to blatant showboating and then took a huge slash... both teams were pissed off about their stars being smacked around so things got out of hand. give homer(ing?) a rest

Did you notice the dirty elbows to the back of the head on Linden while was face down. I'm an eastern conf. guy, but love the fighting out west. Oilers were one of my favorites out that way, the future all-star Schremp is the same area.

Greene had pulled Linden off the pile in the previous scrum and the ref did, dare i say, a good job in getting in there to prevent greene from taking advantage. but they waited 4 seconds and went at it here and greene did the same thing he would have done just moments earlier.

i'm somewhat amazed smid didn't get much more - he was going wild. i wouldn't have been surprised if he hadn't gotten suspended for a game or 2, but i guess he didn't. that guy needs to calm his ass down a bit. anyone else catch that punch he threw at raymond who was skating around innocently and actually trying to help the refs?

as an unbiased, eastcoaster, i think the oilers coaching staff should be held a bit accountable for letting their players get out of hand, ala the philadelphia flyers. but of course, if colin campbell isn't gonna punish the flyers coaches, he definitely won't be touching the oilers. while this all probably started with the kesler & greene hits, it should have been over after the isbister/greene fight. it got out of hand after stoll took a run at burrows.

actually, it wasn't Greene who had Linden in the previous brawl, it was Moreau. While Moreau got at least one penalty, and I forget but maybe even a misconduct, Linden got nothing. Off the next faceoff, Greene grabs a hold of Linden and throws a few punches at him while Linden just holds on for dear life! Greene then throws Linden down and lands on top of him. At this point Smid has actually gone a little bit crazy, he's throwing punches at Shannon overtop the linesman (who has a really tight grip on Smid) and then when Raymond goes over to try and help the defenceless Linden who's being man-handled by Greene, Smid gets apart from the linesman for a brief second and starts throwing punches at a turtling Raymond. I too am surprise Smid didn't get suspended on this play and he only got 2+10. But to say this was the Oilers fault is totally uncalled for. This was a game with such emotion start-to-finish, and evan began with a heated exchange in warmup between Stortini and Ritchie.
