I don't know if I'm missing something but it looked like Nash actually started that one. Vandermeer backed into him and then Nash started shoving his gloves in Vandermeer's face. Vandermeer won that fight hands down. Kudos to Nash for taking on a tough guy like Vandermeer (who isn't a goon or a fighter just for the record, he's a tough defencemen who has 5 points in 15 games and plays over 20 minutes a night, thats more than most goons get in a season).

Got the crowd excited to see the Franchise player going up against the opponent's goon and winning. I think regardless if I guy wears a visor, he should have a right to protect himself. The Hawks had an empty net and Nash could have been trying to shoot at it to pad his stats for another Rocket trophy. Instead, he's trying to run the clock off when Vandermeer comes over throwing elbows and crosschecks. But you're right, the CBJ can even it up...let's let Kane wear a visor when he fights Shelley.

I Tivo'd it a couple of times and I swear it looks like Nash said "I'm done, I'm done!" before the linesmen jumped in and broke them up. It looks to me like a nasty little rivalry is starting to brew between the Hawks and Jackets.

Stay tuned!

Vandermeer always smiles when he fights. You gotta love how much he enjoys scrappin'. I give it to Vandy. He landed better and more often. Nash sissied out behind the visor until Jim took it off him. If the refs hadn't stepped in, Vandermeer would've destroyed him. And Nash visibly started it if you watch closely, so don't give me that "goal scorer shouldn't take off the visor" crap.

Edge Vandy, but nice showing by Nash. Vandy smiles too much during fights - looks like an ass when he starts getting popped by a non-fighter.

Call it a draw because Nash evens it up with pure heart in taking on a fighter and not backing down. Skilled player vs fighter.

Props to nash for fighting a fighter, dont see stars fight tough guys, and he held his own, DRAW

nash was calling for the refs to step in. nash tried to punk vandermeer and got punked himself. nash is lucky the refs stayed close to him because he was gonna be dropped by vandy had the fight lasted longer. if you're gonna be a tough guy, take off the shield. nash is a *****.

Good scrap. Vandermeer won, but Nash showed heart and landed a few of his own.

Marginal defenceman gets the better of a star player but full marks for Nash to hang in there.

There's a reason JV doesn't drop them often....nobody wants to fight him...did you see him smile when Nash hit him with his best shot?
