I normally don't post, but I read the post by tatals17 and I honestly have to question your hockey sense. I played in the same league as Phaneuf and I played college/university...in fact I played everything minus professional. I did this because I was only ever going to be a checking player with a very limited length of career (doesn't make sense to punish your body like that and potential have a mind of mush when you can educate yourself and still enjoy life). Knowing how much toll those hits take on your body; the last thing you want to do is cheap shot...in hockey it comes back on you. Getting back on topic I think Phaneuf made the perfect hit. I played agaisnt MacLean and cutting through the middle without looking is his thing. Good players like Scott Stevens and Dion Phaneuf keep a book on players like this. Trust me when I say that agents recommend that players keep a book on games. We are all creatures of habit and tend to do things that have worked in the past...how else do you think Stevens was able to make the hit that ended Lindros as we once knew him. The hit by Phaneuf was clean and I give Phaneuf credit for defending himself. He is not much of a fighter, but probably one of the best hitters in the game. Lots of credit goes to Laperriere; this guy is the ultimate team player and an asset to any team. As a Calgary fan, I certainly know that we could use a guy like this one our squad. He is great defensively, chips in on the odd offense, adds toughness and a ton of heart.

Good to see that all of you Avalanche fans were watching your team's last game of the season. Most Flames fans didn't bother to watch the meaningless game.

I was reading the paper this morning and was surprised to see a picture of All Star defenseman Dion Phaneuf fighting fourth line grinder Ian Laperriere so I watched the fight on YouTube. Laperriere did his job and stood up for his team mate. He layed a beating on Phaneuf. Too bad nobody else on the Avalanche would do the same for Laperriere.

By the way, do you call Ian Laperriere "Lappy" because:

1.) You know him personally.
2.) As an American you are unable to spell or pronounce a French name?

Laperriere gets the win in a close fight. But great job going right after Dion.

Ian was more active and landed a few. He also took Dion down.

Win laperriere.

For some unknown reason I don't care for Phaneuf. So...I enjoyed watching him get his butt handed to him.

Dion got jumped, there was no fight. They wrestled along the boards with their gloves off. If Lap had the balls to do it right; he could have waited until later and then squared off with Dion.

Haha Godard Vs... your so Flamer biased it's not even funny. Phaneuf got his ass handed to him. Have fun golfing (or should I say bowling?) after the Wings steamroll you and your plumbers.

phaneuf got tuned up again, he deserves it. he is a cheap shot artist with no respect for other players.

Phaneuf's a frikin punk, the more times he gets his head kicked in the better.
