Apr 03, 2007 Edmonton Oilers Zack Stortini
3pd 05:55 Minnesota Wild Derek Boogaard
Comments: Right off of the faceoff they drop the gloves and grab ahold of each other at center ice. They grapple in-tight and Stortini throws two short lefts to the side of Boogaard's head. They take each other's helmets off and continue to wrestle around in close quarters. Stortini throws an overhand right and Boogaard responds with a right to the back of a bent over Stortini's head. Boogaard gets in an uppercut followed by two more rights to a still bent over Stortini. Stortini attempts a single-leg takedown on Boogaard, but Boogaard is able to keep his balance. Stortini connects with a right just before he loses his balance and falls to the ice. Boogaard goes down with him and gets in a right just as the linesmen are jumping on top of the two.

Saw the Oilers coach talking about Stortini - saying he has done a good job - he can protect guys - but he doesnt want him to fight the heavy weights like boogaard. Should have listened to your coach buddy - he should have fought Bouchard or Gaborik the way he fights.

Stortini was just ridiculous in this one, he might as well have just asked the ref to call his mommy and put him in the box for 5, then at least Boogaard wouldn't have had to waste his energy on this slightly-less-annoying-than Matt Cooke playing-in-canada hump of meat. That being said, this one started in the 1st.

If Boogaard wasnt having his leg humped he would have pounded Stortini. Rematch thurs. night, hope they give us a good showing.

There was no doubt in my mind that Boogaard won the fight. Stortini didn't want to mess with Boogaard he was just hugging him trying to survive. It looked like all game he wanted to fight Brent Burns, but Derek Boogaard had his teammates back.

Win Boogaard, and if Stortini didn't hug like a little girl, he'd have a broken face... I can understand why he did it, as I probably would have ran into the stands.

As for the guys saying that the helmets shouldn't come off, you're more likely to get a broken hand hitting it on a helmet than a concussion getting hit when you don't have one.

stortini is the best hugger in the nhl, and terrible at the one handed take down. boogey all the way on that one.

Didn't know the AWA returned to MN. What's up with the attempted single leg takendown? Boogaard wins hands down on this one!

After Stortini stopped hugging boogaard he didnt even get a punch in until he tried to trip boogard and then he still only got one ok punch in.

The only people who would say Stortini won this thing are fans who want to have a legitimate fighter in Edmonton. Call Kevin Lowe, cause there isn't one yet.
