Comments: Right off of the faceoff Lapointe finds Stortini and challenges him. The two drop the gloves and grab ahold of each other near the side boards. Stortini quickly gets Lapointe's helmet off and they grapple for a bit. Lapointe connects with two short rights to the side of Stortini's helmet. Lapointe then gets Stortini bent over and throws four hard rights. Stortini comes back with two rights and an uppercut. They get in-tight and Lapointe throws three more short rights to the side of Stortini's head. Stortini unloads a flurry of four rights, an uppercut and two body shots while Lapointe tries to move away from the punches. Lapointe tries a locked-out right and then takes Stortini to the ice. The linesmen are right there to jump in and break things up.

Marty's the man! He's as strong as a bull and it showed here against a guy who loses a lot of fights.

Lapointe had the advantage early . Stortini started to cnnect with the better punches and it looks like Marty realizes this and takes him down.

I give the win to Stortini. If this was a rassln match Marty would be the winner.

Lapointe is truly missed in Detroit just for this kind of toughness. Gave up some size physically, But not when it comes to effort. Martin gets the nod. good fight.

Meh... As an Oiler fan I can say Stortini is not the heavyweight I thought he was.

I figured LaPointe was getting a little long in the tooth for this kind of thing but shows he can still dish it out. Huge size advantage for Stortini but Marty has always had a rep for being super strong for his size and it showed with the solid punches and take down of a much bigger opponent. Stortini is not a very good fighter in my opinion.

I'm giving the win to Lapointe because he landed a few more shots and was on top when they went down at the end but it was nice to see Stortini actually throw a few punches instead of just trying to hug the other guy to death like he normally does. Good scrap.

Martin Lapointe? Garbage! He won't fight heavyweights and he does the lamest Mick Vukota, Kevin Maguire move, the old grab the pant leg and put em to the ice move when he's in trouble. Someone outta be fired for making this bum a captain. I'm so happy he's not in Detroit. You think he would have learned at least SOMETHING about fighting from Kocur OR McCarty. Just when Stortini's going to keep pounding on him Marty pulls the pant leg. BOOOOO!!

Good scrap. Lapointe had the early edge but Stortini got in a couple of good ones that landed flush. Slight win to Stortini.

close fight IMO. Both landed shots. Would like to see them go again sometime.

Not a bad fight I expected Stortini to take this one but didn't, I don't think it was a trip at the end its just the point that there is no doubt that Lapointe is the physically strongest player in the NHL bar none.
