Mar 30, 2007 Tampa Bay Lightning Shane O'Brien
1pd 09:49 Carolina Hurricanes David Tanabe
Vincent Lecavalier buries Frantisek Kaberle into the boards, causing Tanabe and a few other 'Canes to go after him. O'Brien comes to Lecavalier's aide and shoves Tanabe to the ice. Tanabe gets back up and they drop the gloves, squaring off at center ice. They grab ahold of each other and wrestle for a bit. O'Brien throws two rights at the back of Tanabe's helmet while Tanabe tries to push O'Brien into the boards. Tanabe goes down to a knee, allowing O'Brien to take his helmet off. O'Brien then throws three rights to the back of Tanabe's head as well as getting in an uppercut. Tanabe falls to the ice and O'Brien quickly lets go just as the linesmen start to move in.

wallsy, he said that because he saw the sun sports feed of the game which showed that Tanabe was trying to fight with Lecavlier and O'Brien, obviously a better fighter then Lecavlier, stepped in for Lecavlier, and yes Lecavlier should have tooken responsibility for the check and fought Tanabe but Shane stepped in and stood up for him

gotta give credit to Tanabe for being a non fighter and willingly going with O'Brien

There was NOTHING wrong with that hit. Good fight. Some networks should not be allowed to cover hockey games.

Atta Boy O'Brien this is why we brought you in. . He really brings a rough and tough mentality and won't let his teammates get pushed around. He fought a lot as a member of the Ducks and is showing himself here.. as well as in the playoffs

What was Dave "KNUCKLE HEAD" Tanabe thinking? I've got one teammate laid up in the corner, now I want to join him. Still can't believe the Ducks traded O'Brien. Complete domination in that fight.

Lightening rule says way to go to stick up for your teammate?

Are you a complete idiot or just a half wit?

A guy injures another player and you think that the congrats should go to the guy who sticks up for the assailant?
I dont say that the hit was cheap--although the elbow was a bit high--but if you are going to issue huge checks--then it is YOU who need to back them up. nt a teammate.

Im all for sticking up for stars who are out there getting beaten on by lesser players who are on the roster to be tough. BUt if you level guys with checks--and injure them--then you need to do your own fighting.

check that--i read more tampa fan comments--you are all idiots. or-maybe you think vinny a puss.

Lecavalier threw a sweet hit on Tanabe and he went after Lecavalier and started stoving him and O'Brein said you cant do that and started fighting not too smart for Tanabe. O'Brein beat the crap out of him.
