Mar 25, 2007 Colorado Avalanche Ian Laperriere
1pd 01:59 Vancouver Canucks Jeff Cowan
Comments: Laperriere decks Cowan with a hit along the boards. Cowan takes exception and goes after Laperriere who lingers at center ice to wait for a response. They drop the gloves and grab ahold of each other. They immediately start going toe-to-toe with punches: Laperriere with rights, Cowan with lefts. Laperriere loses his balance and falls to the ice with Cowan getting in a left as they are going down. The linesmen are right there to grab them and end the fight.

Someone stated that they don't give wins for "take downs". That was no takedown, you need to watch it again. Your comments made me watch again. Cowan is throwing alot of lefts inside of Laperriere's rights, and they appear to be landing. As Lapperriere goes down, he pulls cowan down also, while cowan is still throwing. I think, from what I saw, he goes down by a punch. Win Cowan.

gotta love both of these guys - not quite heavies, yet they sure throw bombs with bad intentions

Cowan won because of the knockdown. Nice to see that mouthy Laperriere hit the deck.

camera way too close.
Announcers were right that laperriere got in a right--wrong that he got in a 2nd right.

The hits by cowan seem to be as often and hard as by ian.
Draw.
getting a guy to go down doesnt mean u win the fight.

the guy who wins the fight hurts less than the guy who lost.
Its not boxing--its fighting..you end up with a black eye and stitches but got the take down---you lost.

Mailman if you read this again--like I say this isnt boxing. You dont give points for knocking a guy down.

The guy who wins a fight--is the guy who hurts less.

They dont award wins in fighting. You dont go rounds and you dont go rise up the class ladder. You either have a black eye and stitches or you dont. If you are the guy who has a broken nose but you landed on top of your opponent--he won.
This fight is a draw--cause both of them hurt the other one the same amt.

Laperriere is a crap player with not much talent. Cowan knocked his teeth in. I give it to Cowan. Ian only got one real punch it before falling down.
