King starts things off with three quick rights and Boogaard responds with three rights of his own that knock King's helmet off. King pumps away with the jersey-jab and Boogaard throws two overhand rights. Boogaard gets in an uppercut and King shakes his elbow pad off. They grapple in-tight until Boogaard gets loose and throws two rights to the back of King's head. Boogaard then connects with a hard uppercut that is followed up by a mix of rights and uppercuts after that. Boogaard then connects with five straight body shots with King landing a short right to the back of Boogaard's head after the flurry. Boogaard connects with two more body shots and King tries to keep him close. Boogaard gets free and throws a left cross that misses. They fight to keep their balance for a moment and Boogaard then connects with five more body shots to the left side of King. King is able to get Boogaard's jersey over his head, but Boogaard gets off a right and the linesmen intervene shortly after.

D.J. King vs. Derek Boogaard

King and Boogaard line up right next to each other at the faceoff, and you can see King talking to him the whole time until the puck drops. The ref drops the puck, King starts to shake off his gloves, and he challenges Boogaard. It takes a while for Boogaard to drop his mitts, but when he does they immediately start to grapple. King throws four quick rights with a few landing, and Boogaard comes back with two or three rights that knock King's helmet off. King throws several jersey jabs, and they start to skate out towards center ice. Boogaard throws three overhand rights, and he follows it up with a few uppercuts, but only one of them land. King tries to shake off an elbow pad, and they start to grapple again. King rips off Boogaard's helmet, and Boogaard throws an uppercut and two overhand rights. They get in tight, and Boogaard throws three body shots, and then he follows it up with three more. King responds with two decent overhand rights, and Boogaard throws another body shot. King throws another right that's off target, and he follows it up with an overhand right that misses. Boogaard misses with two overhand rights, and then he throws two more body shots. King throws a few jersey jabs and pulls Boogaard's jersey over his head. The linesmen finally intervene in a long fight.

Win: Boogaard. King really wanted to fight him, but Boogaard edged him out in a very long and spirited bout. Props to King though. He's only a rookie and he still hing in there with Derek Boogaard, who is a freaking monster. These two have fought before, and their first fight was a draw, so King's a good fighter. At 22 years old, he can still match up with Boogey. But Boogaard just got the best of him here and he landed several punches. The Blues team was fed up with Boogy, so King challenged him. The Minnesota announcers are the biggest homers ever, and they need to shut the heck up. They said, "King asked for this fight, and Boogy's really handing it to him. King just needs to go down, he doesn't have a chance. King doesn't really want to be here. Boogaard will put him down soon." Wow, King doesn't back down from anyone, and even if he is losing, he will never go down just to end it. He fights 'till the end, and that's what I like about him. He's a very good fighter, and he deserved more respect than what the Wild announcers were saying about him. King wasn't going to go down. He wasn't getting killed or anything, he just lost. This was his first loss of the year, and he shouldn't be ashamed of losing to Boogaard. A TON of people lose to Boogaard, he's one of the toughest in the league. But King still did OK. His first loss. I'd say he's still a top 10 fighter. Boogaard finally got in a fight since January 26th. He needs to fight more, he's very entertaining to watch.

And for those of you saying King was scared to fight him, watch the ****ing fight again you idiots. KING was the one who CHALLENGED BOOGY. King REALLY wanted to fight him, and it was Boogaard who looked tentitive to drop his gloves. You guys are idiots. King isn't afraid to fight anyone. He beat Boogaard in the preseason too. Boogaard homers.

Nice of the linesman to come in and save him right when DJ had him jerseyed-I'd call it more a draw than anything.

boogaard the clear winner...but respect to king, pretty ballsy for challenging the much larger boogeyman...good to see boogaard throwing some body punches, something people don't do enough of when they're opponent is hugging them...decent fight

Boogaard was dominate and definitely won, but you have to give King credit for standing in there.

what the hell was King thinking??? You could plainly see that he didn't even really want to throw any punches. It looked like a classic playground fight between the class bully and the class loser. GO BOOGEYMAN!!!
