Mar 22, 2007 St. Louis Blues D.J. King
3pd 08:15 Minnesota Wild Derek Boogaard
Comments: Right off of the faceoff they drop the gloves and grab ahold of each other next to the benches. King starts things off with three quick rights and Boogaard responds with three rights of his own that knock King's helmet off. King pumps away with the jersey-jab and Boogaard throws two overhand rights. Boogaard gets in an uppercut and King shakes his elbow pad off. They grapple in-tight until Boogaard gets loose and throws two rights to the back of King's head. Boogaard then connects with a hard uppercut that is followed up by a mix of rights and uppercuts after that. Boogaard then connects with five straight body shots with King landing a short right to the back of Boogaard's head after the flurry. Boogaard connects with two more body shots and King tries to keep him close. Boogaard gets free and throws a left cross that misses. They fight to keep their balance for a moment and Boogaard then connects with five more body shots to the left side of King. King is able to get Boogaard's jersey over his head, but Boogaard gets off a right and the linesmen intervene shortly after.

Boogaard controlled this bout. Good fight from both guys though, but Boogaard clearly won.

Are you folks watching the same fight as I did? Actually I watched it without any sound (no announcers) and man Boo beat the stuffing out of King. Props to King for hanging around but he was dominated in this one, hands down. I watched this 3 times to see how anyone could say King won, other than the Boogard haters. I am not Boogard's biggest fan, but he won this tango easily but maybe since he has hit with his purse for almost two months now that tainted a few voters. GBL owns him so come on Boo and show your stuff to a heavyweight.

The was a pretty good fight for king to just hang around. It wasn't close, however. The guys that beat Boogaard are strong enough to get him off balance or get him to bend at the waste. If King (or anyone) could do a move where they go down to their knees and yank Boogaard's sweater at the same time then pop back up quickly, they may be able to get Boogaard in position. I remember a fight from the 80's or 90's where a small player did that move to a big player and won the fight. I don't remember who, however.

Boogie won hands down?? I don't think so!!!
King challenged him and it took boogie long enough....Boogie gets the edge but only by a very slim margin and even then it was not that great.

Oh wow, King snuck some in the beginning, but Boogard just overpowered him. And before King knew it, he was f**ked, and he just tried to wait the fight out. boogard was very dominant, King didn;t have a chance in hell.

King didn't have much of a chance.
Easy win Boogaard

It seemed that King initially wanted to be the aggressor, as he is in most of his fights, but after taking a couple of shots from Boogaard he quickly thought better of it. He basically held on after that and made sure that Boogaard didn't hit him squarely as Boogaard continued to look to throw bombs. I'll give a solid win to Boogaard for being the aggressor throughout the fight, but with a little more experience King will be one of the few in the NHL with the natural ability to hang with Boogaard.

After Boogaard hit him in the chops hard enought to crank the helmet off it was over, but King did start well and tried, but clearly out matched. Only not knocking him out kept me from giving Boogaard a 10. One of the longer fights even though onesided in a while.

Good win for Boogaard here. He hasnt fought in 2 months, and he hasnt won in over 3 months. Good showing, hopefully this gives him some confidence back.

King didnt want to open up at all, had his head turned, and basically held on most the fight. But props to King for staying on his feet. Thats his first loss this year in the NHL I believe.

Closer fight than what everone is saying. Boogyman got a few uppercuts in which gave him the edge in the fight. Bodyshots equal nothng in hockey fights, that only works with fights with rounds to take toll on the body! Would of been nice to see what rookie DJ would of done with the jersey over Boog's head! DJ is almost top 5 fighters in the league now!
