Feb 27, 2007 Detroit Red Wings Brett Lebda

Comments: Holmqvist buries Lebda with a check along the boards, causing Lebda to go after Holmqvist when he gets back to his feet. They push and shove and eventually drop the gloves, grabbing ahold of each other on the side of the Red Wings' net. They spin around and Holmqvist gets in three shor uppercuts while Lebda has his head down. Holmqvist gets Lebda's jersey up and over his head, but the linesmen are quick to get in there and break things up. Other Penalties: Lebda received a roughing and game misconduct; Holmqvist a charging.

Brett Lebda did what he should have done, Holmqvist's hit was not at all necessary, and Lebda stood up for himself. He may not have won the fight, but he got the message across. I applaud him for that.

****...one with a visor on, one who couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag. I hate fights like this, especially with any Swede involved. Phooey!

Weak fight. I agree with the anouncer in this vid. What he said applies to Chris Neil last week as well. Those of you who played before or currently at any level know that while you have to keep your head up- your also accountable for conroling you body and your stick. Throwing these cheap hits don't prove your tuff, they prove the opposite.
Holmqvist could have come in low and followed through straight with his arms. Instead the practically leaves his feet while Lebda is looking at his feet.
Still, you have to keep your head up Lebda.
