Feb 27, 2007 Philadelphia Flyers Darren Reid
2pd 06:29 New York Islanders Arron Asham
Comments: Right off of the faceoff they drop the gloves and square off in front of the Islanders' net. They grab ahold of each other with Asham sneaking in a right just as they are locking horns. Reid misses with an overhand right. Reid throws a body shot and then misses with a right cross, allowing Asham to land two rights that knock Reid's helmet off. Reid throws two overhand rights, but once they miss their target. Asham shakes off his elbow pad and then has his jersey ripped off by Reid. Asham then connects with two rights that put Reid down to a knee and follows that up with two more rights to the back and side of his head just before the linesmen move in to break things up and end the fight.

I JUST LOVE ASHAM, WHAT BALANCE AND POWER THIS GUY HAS. I DON'T KNOW REID, BUT I SURE WISH THE RED WINGS HAD ASHAM AND ONE BIG HEAVYWEIGHT. THEN LEBDA WOULDN'T BE GETTING RUN OVER EVERY OTHER WEEK. HOW PATHETIC LILYA IS, THAT TEAM IS A JOKE. THEIR STARS ARE PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY BEAT AT YEAR END BECAUSE THEY ARE TAKING BIG HITS ALL SEASON. LILYA, FUK U.

So much for the broad street bullies. 2nd Flyer to get pummelded in the game.

Well Darren Reid has a chin.

Asham wins, looking good in this free swinging affair. Normally a good technical fighter, Aaron just threw big rights and avoided the same coming back. An exciting fight. I don't know anything about Reid but he sure didn't look to hold (etc) only to do damage.

Asham is the middleweight champion of the NHL and is one of the best technical fighters ever. Total destruction of Reid in this fight.

Good scrap. Asham was pretty intimidating with those powerful punches. I was a little worried for Reid, but he stood in there. Asham easily, but good on Reid for never giving in.

Asham knows what he is doing. Elite fighter.

Asham was the winner... more punches landed and had control of the fight, even with his jersey off.

Asham should've gotten a game misconduct for not having his jersey tied down...

Asham continues to prove he is the leading middleweight, and maybe pound for pound the best overall fighter out there.

Asham should have had a game misconduct for not having his jersey tied down...he still won the fight tho.

I'm an Isles fan and Asham is one of my faves. Good solid win for him here.

I was at the game, that second pop by Asham that took Reid's helmet off was pretty much the deciding blow and sent the crowd into a collective "whoa!". That was a really hard shot across the chin! Reid actually never made contact with any of his wild swings and Asham strategy was calculated and effective. Don't mess with Asham, he's the "quiet man".

Asham easily. Did he even break a sweat? When ever he squares off he always has the cool easy going stance, before he lets lose.

Reid get points for trying but Asham owned him
