2006-2007 Regular Season

Date / Time Away / Home Team Away / Home Player
Feb 22, 2007 Ottawa Senators Ray Emery
2pd 05:13 Buffalo Sabres Andrew Peters
Comments: The two goalies decide to go at it among the rest of the chaos, each shedding their gloves, blockers, and masks and meeting at center ice. They grab ahold of each other and Emery throws five straight rights while Biron is trying to move away from the punches and eventually falls to the ice. Emery pins Biron on the ice and then eventually lets him up only to get tripped to the ice himself by Biron. Emery gets back to his feet and the two skate away from each other. Peters spots Emery over near the side boards afterwards and skates towards him with a mean look on his face. Peters grabs Emery and throws a right to start things off. One of the linesmen tries to grab Peters, but quickly decides to let them continue. Peters throws another right and Emery attempts a short right of his own. Peters connects with three straight rights to the side of Emery's head and Emery again just throws a weak right that comes up short. They exchange rights and Peters pushes Emery towards the side boards while Emery is smiling and laughing. Peters connects with another right, but the linesmen and one of the referees are right there to break things up. Other Penalties: Peters received an instigator, roughing and game misconduct.

Kind of embarrassing that Peters didn't even sting Emery isn't it? Going after a goalie (albeit a tough one) after he's already fought may take a while to live down or at least not to be chriped at about. Too bad, Peters is my #2 fav.

Does Peters actually think he's tough by going after a goalie with about twice as much equipment on and has just been through a first fight??? what to go peters, you're my hero... Too bad mcgrattans gonna fill you in on saturday

Peters third man in on a goalie fight, classless.

It was hardly a fight. There were only two half-decent punches even landed; Emery got a decent one in on a bent-over Peters just before the refs stepped in, and Peters had a body-shot earlier (which probably shouldn't count, given the mammoth equipment a goalie wears. Peters almost landed a good shot to Emery's face right before Emery hit him (though the second camera shows there was no contact). Other than that, Peters and Emery were only able to hit each other's shoulder pads as they tried to swing for the fences, er, faces...

I'd love to see another round between the two. Peters has a weight advantage, but Emery's the better athlete.

Peters is a gutless bi tch just like all the rest of the sabres. The hit on Drury was completely clean and it was great to see Neil rail him. Also, Adam Mair is lucky Spezza is too smart to get into that crap or else Jason would have knocked the s hit out of him.

Well for this I say Emery won, reason being he beat the crap out of Biron then peters comes in and jumps Emery, Please tell me why wasn't Peters suspended for this? Oh and By the way Buffalo fans, the hit was ruled clean by the NHL, Drury wouldn't have gotten a concussion if he wore his helmet right as that helmet is meant to prevent them, and who got fined 10k? Oh right Buffalo's Coach? And Mair has the nerver to call Heatley a Murderer? Well don't be surprised if he gets punched out every game Ottawa plays Buffalo in.

If Emery did not have his tie-downs Emery would have done better.

The sens fans are still crying about how the sabres kicked their asses in the playoffs last year so you will have to forgive some of them for their dumb comments.

That was a clean hit, he just hit him with his shoulder but it was seconds late and he wasn't looking so it can go either way.

i'll admit this fight should've never happened. letting a forward fight your goalie is unacceptable. if you watched sports center that night, you would have heard the reporters say that the senators were cowards for not sticking up for their goalie. when peters came after emery they all just stood there. that's showing a good team. still it was unbelievable to see emery smile after getting destroyed by peters. what an idiot.

The hit WAS FROM BEHIND. Elbow was tucked at contact, only a split second after Drury released the puck, nice follow through with his arms. Other than the angle he came in at, a good job by Neil of finishing his check (Drury should have had his head up). I think that Ruff saw the follow through with the arm and thought he saw an elbow.

Even if the hit was perfectly clean, Neil had caught the Buffalo Capt. flat footed and ran him. A reaction had to be expected. No excuse for putting skill players out there.
