| Comments: The two goalies decide to go at it among the rest of the chaos, each shedding their gloves, blockers, and masks and meeting at center ice. They grab ahold of each other and Emery throws five straight rights while Biron is trying to move away from the punches and eventually falls to the ice. Emery pins Biron on the ice and then eventually lets him up only to get tripped to the ice himself by Biron. Emery gets back to his feet and the two skate away from each other. Peters spots Emery over near the side boards afterwards and skates towards him with a mean look on his face. Peters grabs Emery and throws a right to start things off. One of the linesmen tries to grab Peters, but quickly decides to let them continue. Peters throws another right and Emery attempts a short right of his own. Peters connects with three straight rights to the side of Emery's head and Emery again just throws a weak right that comes up short. They exchange rights and Peters pushes Emery towards the side boards while Emery is smiling and laughing. Peters connects with another right, but the linesmen and one of the referees are right there to break things up. Other Penalties: Each player received a leaving the crease penalty and game misconduct. | ||

I'm neither a sens or sabres fan.
someone else mentioned the code, as will i. if you take a cheap shot on any player, expect to see something go down. if you take a cheap shot on a star player, then **** is definitely going down in a big way. listen to ruff's explanation from what you can hear - "that hit was bull****" and he's absolutely right. don't try to say that drury should have been paying attention. first, neil came from sort of behind - basically hte blind spot. secondly, watch his arms - he was head hunting. i could go more into detail about how it was a cheap shot, but i wont.
so the fact that ruff sent out his goons to whack spezza & heatley, is okay in my book. star for star (especially because the sens' coach should have known that buffallo was gonna fight right away and should have sent his own goons out so itd be fighters v. fighters as it states in the code - good book by the way. but i digress). however, also note that heatley was asking for it anyway as can be seen how he starts the shoving match at the face-off circle
moving on to the goalies, and i don't think there was much question here. t here was no need for them to fight, but it was a fair fight in that it was goalie v. goalie. not a fair fight when it comes to fighting skill.
however, while the code says a fighter should protect his team's stars by tossing the gloves and it pushes it further to protect even more your goalie...but if youre goalie gets tko'd by the other goalie, it is my firm opinion that that is NOT your place. protect your goalie but not by punchign the other goalies. not cool. i expect to see peters among any other sabre to be be chased after and probably get absolutely crushed.
but as for ruff - i don't hate his guts. he did what he should have done. and if he gets suspended for one game, or even 3 games, it is still correct. (though i dont believe he told any player to go fight emery). the sen's coach is more of an idiot and a-hole for his reaction. he should have expected it and he should have put his own enforcers out there. even listen to ruff as he yells back at Murray: "Go after Peters! Go after Peters! Don't go after our ****** Captain!"
The next game between these two teams should be interesting/fun to watch.
