Date / Time Away / Home Team Away / Home Player
Jan 26, 2007 Calgary Flames Eric Godard
2pd 06:04 Minnesota Wild Derek Boogaard
The two line up next to each other on the faceoff and right after the puck drops they quickly shed the sticks and gloves. They grab ahold of one another and Boogaard starts things off with a right cross. They go back and forth with rights and Boogaard switches things up, connecting with a body shot. They exchange some more rights until Godard switches hands and connects with two lefts that knock Boogaard's helmet off. They go back and forth once more with a mix of jabs and hard rights. Boogaard then gets Godard's jersey over his head and connects with a right. They lose their balance and fall to the ice. Boogaard gets in two rights while they are down and the linesmen are quick to get in there and prevent anything else from happening.

Even though Boogaard got the take down and pulled Godards' jersey over his head, Godard got a few more punches in while standing. I'm not counting Boogaards' cheap shots, he should know better.

Boogard did not win the fight, cheap shots while the linesmen are in don't count.......sweater punches by Godard with his opposite hand shook Boogard who also landed some solid punches, a draw all the way

that was a close fight at the start but Boogaard laid in some heavy punches which were enough to win the fight. These two must have something going on between them because boogard continued to punch Eric when he was down.

Sabres fan here, I am not a huge fan of either player or team. Looks to me as though if the wild and flames are both voting for their guy. Watching the fight, Godard got the early quick start, Boogaard came back with some good shots of his own and getting the takedown. Being a non fan of either team I would honestly say Boogaard won it by a hair. Just barely.
