Nov 30, 1989 New York Islanders Mick Vukota
1pd 08:41 Chicago Blackhawks Al Secord
Vukota and Secord start pushing and shoving at center ice before they decide to drop the gloves. They tie up with Vukota getting free and connecting with a left that hits Secord right on the temple, sending him to the ice. Vukota continues throwing lefts while Secord falls and stays down on the ice. The linesmen quickly rush in and get the two players back on their feet. Secord refuses to let go of Vukota's jersey and ends up getting his arm free and throwing overhand rights to the back of Vukota. One of the linesmen tackles Secord to the ice, who then receives three lefts from Vukota for his troubles. Vukota continues to go after Secord, pounding away at his legs until the referee skates over to help control him. Secord gets back to his feet and goes into the penalty box with blood coming out of his right ear. Other penalties: Vukota received a misconduct and gross misconduct; Secord a misconduct and game misconduct.

Secord was on the down side of his career at that point. I think he wanted to keep the fight going because he wasn't sure if that was his last game of not.

Old school! Reminds me of Schultz or O'Reily tossing punches at any part of the body while being held by dumb a$$ed linesmen.

Vukota wins. Secord tries cheap shots after the fight is over. Somebody should have punched out the zebras. They almost caused Vukota to get mugged.

Did Mick ever wipe the ice with Secord. Dominating TKO.

Secord showed his age there, should have let the refs end the fight instead of taking a second beating.

Before the visor debate, there was the helmet debate. Secord got dropped. I think he was mad cause he got hit in the temple, a spot protected by Vukota's helmet. By the way, Al Secord was 72 years old when he fought Mick Vukota! :-)

Vukota pounded him to the ice. You gotta love Secord continuing to scrap after he was pounded and then Vukota landed some good shots when Al was down.

Good old fashion pugilism at its best.

Vukota the winner.

Never thougth much of someone who uses the help of refs to regain composure and then acts like a tough guy. The way Secord acted, makes me wish the refs would hove let Vukuta pound him all the way to the ground.

Secord would have looked better in a museum next to a T-Rex...friggin dinosaur got thumped with a Vukota left and it made him SILLY!
