No way did McSorley win this one. Like others have said, he was in the paper the next day with a huge black eye/messed up face. In fact, McSorley missed the next game as well due to his injuries. You can almost see it in the video when McSorley covers the camera as he walks to the dressing room - obviously ashamed and hiding the damage.

McSorely may have landed more, but Clark made his count.

What the clip does not show is Mcsorley geting run from behind during the fight by one of the Leafs and knocking him to his knees. That's the only reason it was even close. Gilmour was such a Bitch anyway...

This may be the most memorable fights in Leafs history. It proved that not only did Clark step up for Gilmour, but that it ignited one of the best playoff series of all-time. Imagine this Leafs fans, if the Leafs win game 6 or 7 (damn Frasier), there in the cup final, something Leafs Nation has been craving for over 40 years. Overall, it was a close bout but Clark gets the upperhand for defending the Leafs #1 player.

What a bunch of morons thinking Clark won this fight hands down.

Amazing how McSorely absorbed those early Clark shots. He had a super-shiner for a good month after this scrap,IIRC. On endurance he gets it but on quality blows it's Clark.

Watch ,re watch ,and watch again . You will see Wendel deliver several punishing shots to the face of Mcsorley. He destroyed a once promising modeling career for Marty as i hear to this day that he refuses to be photographed on that side of his melon.
Total team player and a captain for the ages...how we lost the series to LA is unbelievable.

Having a tough time seeing how so many people saw Marty winning this bout. Marty was hit by a few heavy bombs early in the fight. He came back to score several minor hits to *maybe* even it out. This is a testament to his ability as a fighter- most guys would have been floored by those early bombs. The telling part is where Marty puts his hand over the camera as he leaves the ice...

My vote is for Clark, I agree that the facial marks after the fight, truly show who really won. I think its quality over quantity on this one. Pound for pound, who was really tougher, and was more fearless in their careers. Clark never had to use his stick as a weapon in his career.

Bill Clement called Clark a "wolverine", and when he was angry, like here, he could damage a guy. Win for the major shiner he inflicted on a very tough McSorley, who royally deserved it for the headhunting elbow. the announcers said Gilmour's head was down, but it was obviously not. I agree this seemed to be the start of Marty's decline.

Great toe to toe fight. I would have called it a draw but McSorly had more gas and took the end of the fight.

Clark definitely fought the smarter fight, and laid the heavier hits. Anybody who doubts this should have seen the Toronto Sun the next day showing Mcsorley's face... it was brutal (Clark had no marks). Actually, you can see Mcsorley's beaten face as he skates off... embarrassed he tries to cover the camera.

I remember watching this on tv and probably the best fight ive ever seen just due to the playoffs and everything.

I also remember the news showing Mcsorleys face after the fight and Clarks face. Clark was clean without a scratch from the fight while Mcsorleys face was cut open and bruised like he was in a car accident.

Despite the fact the Mcsorley clearly threw more Clark had been on the ice for a while and was already tired, Clark hit Mcsorley with 4 strait bombs to the face. Win for #17

A classic heavyweight fight..
Could have been a draw . Clark caught McSorley at the beginning of the fight but McSorley finished strong.
Edge McSorley.
