Mayfield's head nodded yes to every question he was asked in that one.

I thought I was gonna be disappointed when I saw these two guys instead of a big name fight. I was pleasantly surprised, good fight, Deslauriers controlled that scrap. I'm a big fan of people who fight after they get out of the box for roughing too. Good fight, easy win for Deslauriers.

Scott Mayfield should have got Curtiss Mayfield to stand in for him. Deslausiers ran amok all over Mayfield...at least Buffalo won one fight.

Posted by bigmike53 on April 13, 2014 at 09:33 PM

Deslauriers uses both hands to pummel Mayfield in this one! Mayfield's head resembled a speed bag. Easy win for Deslauriers.

Looks like we have some up an comers for next year.

Posted by Love_the_Isles on April 14, 2014 at 10:29 AM

Mayfield bit off a bit more than he could chew and got pummeled for it. At least he hung in and took the punches but this one was not close.

Posted by shawn46 on April 14, 2014 at 09:25 AM

Mayfield has a lot of heart and a piece of it is on his jersey. Good thing he adjusted his chin strap.

Posted by English_Bruin on April 14, 2014 at 12:28 PM

Mayfield looks about 12. He lost though.

2 young guys trying to make the name for themselves.mayfield's 1st and deslauriers' 2nd nhl fight....mayfield missed the start and he off the balance from beginning.deslauriers were just throwing 'em...win deslauriers

Mayfield got his ass kicked. Enough said.

Posted by yngblonde1 on April 14, 2014 at 11:35 AM

WOW, what a butt thumping..Looked like the beat down of the red headed stepchild

Posted by nojjon on April 13, 2014 at 10:18 PM

It was the look on Mayfields face after the first punch that took his helmet off. Win for Deslauriers as he clearly had the upper hand.

Posted by nait on April 13, 2014 at 07:43 PM

Deslauries hands down. Mayfield should have stayed down

Posted by Mark1967 on April 15, 2014 at 03:52 PM

Was sorry to see the Kings include Deslauriers in the trade for McNabb. He had made the chage to winger fulltime and knew he would be a scapper. Great win for Nick!!!

Posted by CravenMoorhead on April 14, 2014 at 01:08 PM

young Mr. Deslauriers was apparently still a bit perturbed after getting mugged by 3 Islanders at once. Took out his frustrations in a solid showing against what appears to be an inexperienced opponent in Mayfield.

Posted by himynameistj on April 13, 2014 at 07:21 PM

Worked.

Posted by elevesque001 on April 13, 2014 at 08:35 PM

Bing bang boom and down goes Mayfield. A huge right, 3 solid left and Deslaurier finish with 6-7 right on punching bag Mayfield... Way to go Nico

Posted by Jlaben on April 13, 2014 at 07:59 PM

This was 1000% better than I thought it would be when I clicked.

Posted by Jellyczar on April 13, 2014 at 09:47 PM

Scott loses again... Mayfield this time,,,, he is dominated by this Deslauriers kid... just hammered.

Posted by anthrojim on April 14, 2014 at 09:17 AM

Deslauriers pummeled Mayfield with both hands. Clear winner.

Posted by Gbuck18 on April 14, 2014 at 11:40 AM

Complete domination.

Posted by doobi1 on April 14, 2014 at 12:16 PM

I counted at least 13-0 in shots landed. Deslauriers the flat out win in this one. Young mayfield never really got started, but sure got the snot whiped out of him.

Lol, Butch Gorring with the he has a lotta heart and will to fight= ass kicked.

Posted by smichaels10 on April 15, 2014 at 05:56 PM

Great fight!!

This fight will be something for my Sabres to build on this off season. If we draft 5 Gil Perreaults we might be int he play offs in 13 years/

one sided affair

Posted by slysi on April 14, 2014 at 07:41 PM

MAYFIELD had heart and determination....but that was all !

Posted by bradmayfan on April 13, 2014 at 07:19 PM

Ouch! Reminds me of a young Brad May!

Posted by glovedropper08 on April 15, 2014 at 11:51 AM

You can tell just by the way Deslauriers throws, that he knows what he is doing. Those punches had some excellent form.. I'm calling it now.. I bet this kid is gonna be one hell of a scrapper in the NHL in years to come.

Posted by tazcat on April 13, 2014 at 07:28 PM

Wow....didnt know we had a switch hitter.......total domination. I'm waiting for the Isles fans to say Mayfield won.........laughable posts at times on here

Posted by Miss_the_aud13 on April 15, 2014 at 09:00 PM

Deslauriers looked like he surprised Mayfield. Good, clean, energetic fight but clear win for Deslauriers.

Posted by Viper207 on April 13, 2014 at 07:36 PM

Wow, Deslauriers worked over Mayfield pretty good here. Props to Mayfield for sticking in there and trying to fight back.

Posted by Humper on April 13, 2014 at 09:07 PM

Short but fun bout, all non-stop action. Mayfield's first NHL fight is quite memorable, but for the wrong reasons.

Posted by Mounty in NC on April 14, 2014 at 10:19 PM

Mayfield tried but he got destroyed!!!

Posted by chad420 on April 14, 2014 at 12:31 PM

This season ended with a bang....3 good scraps and the biggest bully in the league getting his....Awesome....a beatdown by good ol Saint Nick....

Posted by kari takko on April 15, 2014 at 02:34 PM

pow!

Posted by kkdowning on April 18, 2014 at 11:57 AM

Deslauries' aggression leads to a clear win, as Mayfield never got a grip and was struggling to establish any offense. Don't like the take down at the end though.

Posted by Biggus on April 14, 2014 at 12:18 AM

Visor vs. visor and Deslauriers dispatches Mayfield's helmet first, then Mayfield. Great scrap.

Posted by mikebflorida on April 14, 2014 at 09:22 AM

Wow, Deslauriers looked like Jim McKenzie right there with the hard right and then goes lefty and then righty, Mayfield is overwhelmed.

Posted by Amerkfan8 on April 13, 2014 at 08:34 PM

This was a great fight. All Deslauriers there. Kid threw some bombs.

Posted by staceyb on April 13, 2014 at 07:25 PM

That was brutal. Mayfield wishes he was back in college at U. Denver than having his noggin used for target practice by Deslauriers.

Posted by rocky 1 on April 14, 2014 at 01:29 AM

Deslauriers with the beat down in this contest!

Posted by ironbar44 on April 13, 2014 at 08:01 PM

DEslauries has bit more polish .MAYFIELD was game. but will fill out about to 220 -230 one day. down the road MAYFIELD still just 21 . i think he will handle himself better .. BUFFALO fans really needed a win somewhere to have something to smile about. DESLAURIES kept it from complete humiliation ,good for him, a win for DES

Mayfield got rocked.
