Mismatch? Completely. But ultimately it's a fight that demonstrated the role of fighting in the NHL. It was a no-call on a cross check on a Bruins top player, with the looks of a possible broken rib. That's when a top player needs to get involved.

Yeah, Chara didn't fight Scott after Thorton fought him, but the question is why? Thorton is a fighter and didn't expect to get rocked on one of the first punches Scott threw. That's a typical attempt at an emotional boost type of fight, whereas this was a fight about not letting a player get away with a cheap shot. Different situation, and I'm sure Chara didn't like that he was off the ice for as long as he was, but it was something he had to do

Sucked. Chara jumps him then hardly makes an example of him. Sits their best player for 17 minutes, costs them the lead and game, and doesn't even intimidate anyone.

I give the fight to Emelin all the way, sure Chara threw the punches but he cost his team the game so technically Emelin may have lost the battle but he won the war.

For all you idiots saying chara was fighting a little guy Emelin comes in at 6'2" and 225lbs....Far from a tiny guy he just bit off more than he could chew and got crushed on some upper cuts while he was turtling.....THE END!

john-ny, you're a tool. Chara didn't go after Scott because Thorton lost to him mano-a-mano. Emelin cheap-shotted Seguin therefore he had to pay the piper in the form of Chara. should have been a crosschecking penalty on Emilin. The guy friggin broke his stick on Seguin's ribs.

Boston police may take a look at that crosscheck...I know Montreal police would...

Chara will fight absolutely anybody ... as long as he is a foot taller than them. Chara is a heavyweight that fights in the lightweight class. If he comes across somebody even half his size he dives to the ground.

Emelin is a joke....got what was coming to him. Typical Canadian. Chara easy win.

the best part was chara coasting in and leveling him.
