Smith has always been tough in the minors, and got a chance to show his toughness at the NHL level.

Andrew Shaw looks to punish Brendan Smith for his clean, hard hit on Patrick Kane earlier in the game. However, after Shaw looked fired two quick punches Smith established control and dominated the fight. Clear win Brendan Smith in his first NHL fight. I'm not a fan of players fighting with a visor on, but in this fight it was Shaw who came after Smith, leaving the latter no time to remove his lid.

Shaw early on, Smith late. Couple of good punches by both.

Point 1- Smith couldn't get the helmet off because Shaw started throwing before Smith knew it was going to happen. At that point, it's Shaw's job to get the helmet off.

Point 2- What was Shaw thinking, Smith wouldn't fight back?

Point 3- Anytone notice that the Wings' fighting goes up after they've secured a play-off spot? Not dumb at all.

Shaw jumps in on smith who never got a chance to shed the lid. Glad to see some people saw that. To the others who r complaining about the visor, watch it again. Shaw was throwing punches so smith never got a chance to take it off. If you wanna complain about the visor, complain to shaw. Smith lands a couple shots and shaw wanted nothing else to do with the fight. Win Smith

Smith held Shaw with a straight arm and was looking Shaw in the eye before the fight started , so much for the cheap shot . Fully protected by the helmet Smith could go fully to offence without too much worries .

Shaw should have Stan Bowman fight for him after the idiot traded away Scott

Smith wins in compelling fashion. If Shaw hadn't spent almost the entire fight trying to rip Smith's helmet off, it may have been different. I score this one a 7.

Did someone really say Brendan Smith is 170 lbs? Maybe in high school. Played at 200 lbs in Grand Rapids this year. Looked on the Griffins website, he's listed at 6'2 198.
